Some of my Favorite Images from Memorial Day 2014
Last year on May 6th 2013, I took a photo of a tree, in Oakwood cemetery, in full blossom. Since I was by there today, I thought I would see what it was like this year. The tree is just starting to blossom, there are a few flowers, but mostly buds waiting for sunshine. you can also see the trees in the background are bare also. It seemed like spring was late, and now I know for sure comparing the photos. Anyways, I am looking forward to some green trees again and lets hope for a nice summer.
I have taken several photos of this train bridge and I never really thought about it much until now. As Saginaw changes with old buildings being razed, and new buildings being built, the on thing that seems to be constant is this old train bridge, over the river, in the center of the city. It’s a little rusty, but I bet it has changed little since it was built. I can imagine steam locomotives pulling passenger cars over it long ago, and it swinging open to for a ship to pass headed for Old Town.
The building with the Imagine Saginaw Mural Painted by Eric R. Schantz with help from a Saginaw youth group, has met it’s fate, and is being demolished. It’s sad to see the building and mural leaving Sagninaw, I am thankful that David Strouse is working on saving the other buildings on the corner, I was told they are some of the oldest buildings in Saginaw.
