A White Christmas in Saginaw

Posted on December 11, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

I am home looking out the window at a Winter Wonderland watching the snow fall, I thought I would go thru some of my winter pics of Saginaw and make a slide show with some of my favorites. This video thing is kinda new for me, and I am still learning how to do it. I hope you like this one, if you do, I hope you will share it with your friends.

P.S. I had a lot of people request I make a BEANS Bunny T-shirt and I finally got some made, I hope you will take a look at them HERE, if your size is out of stock, I should have more by the end of the week.

It would mean a lot to me if you Subscribe to Pure Saginaw,

I Apologize it’s probably my fault. I had to mention snow and I think Spring got mad at me and decided to leave. Hopefully it will be back soon.  It’s Saginaw, and we always seem to have a spring snowstorm so I guess I might as well enjoy it since getting mad about it ain’t gonna make any difference.

The Old Church on Burt Road

Posted on March 9, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

Old Church Burt Michigan
I love this old church on Burt Road, I know nothing about it’s history. I can only imagine the people that were married and baptized here, or the Christmas and Easter celebrations. Sadly, now it’s lonely and forgotten standing silently as time moves on and it continues to grow older.

Thank you to everyone for following me, and especially to those of you that have subscribed to my website, it really means a lot to me, since facebook does not show you everything I post in your news feed.

Rail Trail through Saginaw’s Winter Wonderland

Posted on March 4, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

Rail Trail Saginaw County

The Rail Trail this morning had a magical winter wonderland look with the frosted trees along the sides. I had to stop and take a pic. I must admit, I got the pic from the road where the trail crossed, since I was not about to trudge thru the snow in 14 degree weather, although I probably should have gotten my fat lazy rear end out to get some exercise.

Going Back to the Blizzard of 1976

Posted on March 2, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

I found some old photos that my dad took way back when, I am pretty sure they are from 1976 since these were taken at the first house we lived in on Nylon Street in Carrollton and we moved when I was 8 years in 1978. That is my older brother shoveling, and myself when I was 6 years old, back when we had to wear snowsuits to go outside, like in the Christmas Story. I remember we got lots of snow, then a layer of freezing rain covered everything with ice after the snow.  I also remember being home for a few days until we got plowed out. Back in those days few people had four wheel drive and the old rear wheel drive cars did not do well in the snow even with snow tires.  I remember that was the first time I saw a snowmobile when I saw some riding around the neighborhood.

The Old Windmill In The Snowstorm

Posted on March 1, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

old windmill kochville
I saw this old windmill on Kochville road a while ago, but I never found the right time to stop and take a pic of it. I was heading home from work in the snowstorm and I remembered the old windmill. It looks like one of the blades is missing, so the “heavy end” keeps it from spinning, and even if it did, I am not sure it would be doing much work, being old and heavy at one end. ( kinda like me). At least it’s still standing tall through the snowstorm, and I can only imagine all the Michigan winters it has seen.

There Is Beauty in Everything

Posted on February 14, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

Saginaw Michigan winter
There is beauty in everything if you are willing to look for it. this may look like a photo from northern Michigan but actually it’s the universal drain that runs thru Saginaw Twp., Carrollton and Zilwaukee. Yes that’s right, its a drainage ditch but with the freshly fallen snow last week, it sure is beautiful.

Welcome Back Winter, Saginaw has Missed You, but Don’t Stay To Long

Posted on February 10, 2016 by Mike Sonnenberg

Winter is back in Saginaw, yesterday it was almost 50 degrees, and now we are back to winter. I gotta say I like taking pics of the snow better than brown grass and bare trees.  Here are a few pics I took today, I have more, but I got to save some for posts later this week. I get as many pics as I can when there is snow on the trees, its kinda like magic like a glorious sunset but like all specieal moments they are fleeting.
