After seeing the sign Illuminated I contacted Tom Mudd President of the Saginaw Valley Historic Preservation Society and he told me that the sign was inadvertently turned on by one of the workers at the historic elevator. I am glad that it was turned on so we could see that lime and magenta glowing in the night sky over Saginaw again but unfortunately it also shows how little of the neon is still working.
Right now there are no immediate plans on getting the sign working , because of the $20,000 needed and the difficulties of working on such a large sign on a tall structure, which you can read HERE in a previous post.
Mr. Mudd told me they are currently working on restoring some signs for the sign park in Old Town on the corner of Court and Hamilton. and they are also in the process of repairing the Mooney’s and Brenske Plumbing sign.
