I was a young boy when the Chevy Parts plant on Washington and 6th closed but I would think in its heyday they must have employed a lot of workers. To celebrate the holidays they must have erected the giant Santa. It must have been huge compared to the land yacht cars of the day. I am not sure what year this photo was taken but looking at the car on the left I think it’s a 71 Chevy Impala. I was fortunate to grow up in Saginaw when it was a GM town and would go to the big union Christmas party. Things have changed over the years but I still feel fortunate to live in Saginaw and things are going well. We may not have the auto manufacturing we once had, but it nice to have the hospitals and medical community in Saginaw. Good things are happing in Downtown too, I miss the past but I am looking forward to the future.
