I found this sketch of Old Town or as it was know back then, Saginaw City. It’s looking west down Court Street from Hamilton, you can see the Church Steeples of Holy Cross Lutheran and First Presbyterian in the background. In the foreground on the left, I think is the Fordney Hotel. I like the old street light, that must have been hi-tech in it’s day. I read in a few places that Saginaw had the first incandescent street light but I have never been able to confirm it. I Have also heard there were tunnels from the buildings to the river, I have not found for sure if that was true, but it make sense, I wonder if any of them would exist today, the Plank Road was found.
