The Fowler School is a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1882 on the corner of Burt and Chapin Roads in Marion Township. A single teacher held classes for children from first grade through the eighth in this old school house. In 1943 Fowler School had closed for the last time and was no longer educating students, but in 1988 the Saginaw Intermediate School District purchased the school building from Mr. and Mrs. Wilmar Lacker and had it moved to the present site at The Hartley Outdoor Education Center´s Murphy Farm in 1988. Today the Fowler School is a fully restored and registered Michigan Historic Site and once again educating students with a hands on experience of history.
