The time capsule placed at Bliss Park commemorating the solders from Saginaw who served in the Civil War will be displayed at the Castle Museum. a new temporary exhibit will open Feburary 17th titled ” Home From The War” and will be available for viewing until May. The time capsule was opened October 24th 2014 at the Castle Museum at which time the contents inside were found to be waterlogged and in poor condition, it was determined by museum staff to have the box “freeze Dried” to salvage what was inside. Tom Trombly was kind enough let me see the contents before they go on display, there are several newspapers from the date the capsule was sealed into the bolder at Bliss Park, along with photographs of some of the men who served in the war. Several books were included in the time capsule, but are in poor condition but many of the books were published and other copies are known to exist in archives so it was not to much of a loss.
I did not take any pics of the artifacts, I hope you will go to the museum to see them for yourself, here is a link for info on the exhibit http://www.castlemuseum.org/#!upcoming-exhibits/c1bk4
