We all know how influential Steve Jobs was in the computer industry, but what about one of the founding fathers of the automotive industry. Charles Duryea lived in Saginaw for a short time and he built the first American car company and built cars for a time in Saginaw. I guess we have become so used to driving cars in our daily lives, that the invention of the automobile does not seem that important anymore. Maybe its just me, the son and grandson of autoworkers and I worked in the auto industry for a while, but I see all the plants closing and disappearing and I wonder how much of the younger generation really understands how important Saginaw was in starting the automotive industry.
