I think none of the original buildings remain in the town of Frankentrost. The town once stood east of Saginaw on Saginaw-Vassar Road which is now M-46 near the Immanuel Luthern Church. The name of the town comes from Franconia, a region in Bavaria, and trost the German word for comfort. The town was founded in 1847 by Lutherans from Bavaria. Settlers purchased land from the government for 77 cents an acre. The small town was given a post office by the name of Trostville in 1868 and closed in 1881.
