I think my favorite restaurant in Saginaw has to be the Savoy Bar & Grill on Franklin Street in Downtown, not only because they have delicious food but the people as well. I think going the the Savoy is as close as I can get to eating at grandmas kitchen, they have a full menu of comfort food and classic American meals and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. The inside is decorated with Saginaw antiques and artwork on the wall, some of which is even mine. They have an excellent breakfast menu with your classic bacon, eggs and hashbrowns, blueberry pancakes, and the signature dish Mrs Shinaver’s French toast, which is french toast with frosted flakes, if you haven’t had it, you need to try it. For lunch and dinner they have all your favorites from burgers, sandwiches and wraps to fish, salads and roast beef. and their home made soups and Chili really hits the spot on a cold winters day.
Besides serving excellent food, Steve and Jim have been giving back to the community with their annual Turkey dinner and supporting local causes with fundraiser dinners for organizations like the Saginaw Depot Preservation Corporation and their efforts on saving the Potter Street Depot. I also have to thank them for helping me with doing Pure Saginaw, they helped me in getting followers when I started out, and then selling calendars and stickers for me.
I hope Steve and Jim does not mind me using a few of their facebook photos, I always mean to take some pics of what I am eating, but then someone sets a plate of food in front of my my brain stops working and I just start eating.
