When I say “The Big Apple” I am sure you think of that city over on the east coast, but I am thinking of a different apple. My daughter’s school had a field trip to ski at Apple Mountain today, and I stopped by to pick up her skis. Seeing that giant red apple made me smile and going to the ski hill always brings back memories of my brothers and I learning how to ski there. I am thankful that John and Joan Bintz decided to build the hill. After Bintz’s sold it about 15 years ago, the new owners (Bierlein) have done a fantastic job of updating the buildings and adding golf to the facility. It’s nice to have someplace local to go skiing, and my kids were able to learn to ski there also. I have a feeling there are a lot of skiers in Michigan that learned to ski on that hill, and now that I am older the addition of the chair lift sure is a bonus, my old arms and hands don’t do well on the tow ropes.
It would mean a lot to me if you Subscribe to Pure Saginaw
