It’s Thursday so time for a throwback pic. I took this photo a few years ago of the dandelions at Hoyt Park. I figured since it is supposed to get bone-chilling cold I would post a nice sunny warm photo.

It’s happened already. I guess we don’t have to wonder when we will be getting our first snowfall of the season. The big question is, do I rake the snow or shovel the leaves?

If you have not visited the warming house at Hoyt Park in a while you have not seen the Michigan historical marker proudly mounted onto the building. It reads:
Local architect Donald A. Kimball designed this shelter and field house in 1938. Funded by the federal Works Progress Administration, it incorporated Bay Port stone from the razed Darmstaetter Brewery located at the south end of the park. With offices above and a warming and concession room below, this building supported ice skating and other sporting activities, including sledding, tobogganing and baseball. In 2008 the Friends of Hoyt Park raised funds to rehabilitate the building

I like this little red bridge in the Japanese Gardens. It is a nice little place to visit, but I wish it was open more than just in the afternoons.

It’s Thursday and social customs dictate that I should post a throwback Thursday photo. I thought about posting a winter photo but after all the winter we have experienced in the past few weeks, with the Polar Vortex and the freezing rain, I thought I should post something a little more uplifting. Here is a pic I took a few years ago at Hoyt Park of the dandelions enjoying a sunny spring day. I don’t mind the snow but I could do without the freezing rain. Let’s hope spring is not too far away.

I always enjoy going for a walk through the woods at Imerman Park. I was telling someone about going there as a kid, and they had an exercise trail with stations where you would do different exercises. like pull-up bars or weights to lift and they looked at me as if I was crazy. I guess I am crazy, that’s why I get that look all the time, but I am sure of the exercise trail. do you remember the trail with the exercise stations on it?

Five miles south of Saginaw on Sheridan Road is the Price Nature Center with over 3 miles of hiking trails. It’s a nice quiet place to go for a walk through the woods even on a cold day in the middle of winter. I have to admit that I am looking forward to going for a hike on a warm summer day.

With the trees in bloom, springtime is one of the most beautiful times to take a walk thru the gardens at the Japanese Cultural Center on the corner of Washington and Azra Rust. you can find more info about the Japanese Cultural Center HERE

I saw that the Saginaw County Parks is having a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new rail trail that goes from Saginaw to Bay City HERE. I figured why not check out the rail trail before the ceremony, I knew there was a spot at the end of Melbourne Road where the trail is right next to it so I thought I would check it out but I guess I can’t open my presents early. They must still be 
doing some work on it or wanting to wait until it’s officially open before anyone can use it since they had some barricades up. I guess I will have to wait about a month to ride the new trail but I am looking forward to it, I have been on the one from Shields to St Charles but I am excited to go from Saginaw to Bay City. It’s also part of the Iron Belle Trail HERE, that loops around the whole state of Michigan.
