I was in Freeland and I stopped at Festival Park along the Tittabawassee River. I remember last year this park was under water along with a lot of other places, hopefully mother nature will be a little kinder this spring after the winter she tested us with.

If a Building Falls in Saginaw, does it make a Sound?
I was on the east side today so I thought I would get a pic of Morley School at 2533 Lapeer before they tear it down, but I guess I was to late, since it’s just a dirt field now. I usually check www.SaginawVally.info daily to look at the news feeds, but I must have missed the story from Mlive and Wnem. I read somewhere that it had black mold and was dangerous to use so it was demolished. I am glad I got some pics of it last year. It’s amazing how quickly things change, especially if it’s somewhere you don’t go everyday and I don’t make it to that part of town to often. I wish I had started taking photos of Saginaw 20 years ago.

The Castle Museum’s “At Home in Saginaw”
Over the weekend I visited the Castle Museum and they currently have an exhibit on the homes of Saginaw, and showcase homes from 1850 – 1963. In the exhibit you can read the story and see photos of the Webber Mansion, or learn about the houseboats on the Saginaw River, and view a display about the Mershon and Morley portable homes built in Saginaw. It’s a wonderful and fascinating exhibit about the history of housing in Saginaw and and Exhibit you don’t want to miss.
The exhibit runs until April 29th, stop by the Castle Museum and see the exhibit along with the other amazing Saginaw artifacts on display. If you have not been to the Castle Museum in a while you need to go and visit.
you can find out more about the Castle Museum and current exhibits at their website www.castlemuseum.org
Visiting Hartley on a Winter Morning
I was able to take some photo at Hartley Outdoor Education Center near St Charles this winter. I went there when I was in fourth grade along with my class and have so many good memories of our time there. I remember my mom gave me a little camera to take pictures with and maybe that started my facination with photography. did you go to Hartley in 4th grade? and what do you remember?
How Photos and Places Connect Us.
I like to take photos of old houses and places that look forgotten, if you have followed my work for a while you know what I mean. I took a pic of this little old house near Hemlock last spring. After I posted the pic on facebook I got a few comments then someone messaged me thanking for me for posting the pic of the house their father grew up in. He had passed away shortly before I posted the photo and they told me a little about him and where he and his wife attended church. I told them my dad goes to church there and we used to. Being creatures of habit we always sat in the same place along with the people around us. There was a nice couple that always sat behind us I knew them from church but not very well. come to find out the kind gentlemen sitting behind us grew up in this little house that I photographed. Some photos are just photos but sometime they are a little more. I guess that’s why I do what I do.
