It’s Thursday so time for a throwback photo. I took this photo about 5 years ago. It was the old service station on Hayden and South Baum streets. It’s gone now, like a lot of buildings in Saginaw. When I was a kid I remember going to the old service stations with my dad in the 70’s. Pulling in and hearing the “ding ding” of the bell as you drove over the hose. I guy would come out usually wiping the grease off his hands with a rag. ” how much” he would ask, “fill er up” He would stick the nozzle in behind the license plate, and you would watch the dials spin on the pump. While that the gas was going in the tank he would check the tire pressure and the oil. By the time I got my license in the late 80’s everything was self-serve and I had to pump my own gas.
